That's right, as of now, you can send SMS messages to any muso in the directory who has listed a valid mobile phone number, directly from the website. How? Well, there are detailed instructions in the Help section, but basically, you go and get an account with Clickatell, put your details into your account back here, and away you go.
Oh and the folks at Clickatell are nice enough to give you 10 FREE SMS messages, so you can try before you buy. After that, they're about 7.5c each, so much cheaper than using your phone to send them!
Enjoy!

Some Changes

Having been recently informed that the domain melbournemuso.com (singular, no "s") is in fact a big, flashy, expensive site which will no doubt try to sue me, I've changed the domain to musoblackbook.com. This was chosen very carefully and after much deliberation (read: over a few beers during a set break) by the horn section of a cheesy latin band. Hope you like it.
Also, thanks to some friendly feedback, I've changed the way that the minimum call cost fields work. They now provide options in a range and also include an option for those who want to call themselves "Negotiable".
Over the next week or so, I will also add SMS integration so that you can send query SMS messages from this site to musos listed in it. Each SMS message will cost about 7.5c and will be set up through a provider called Clickatell. If anyone knows of a better rate than this for web-to-sms interfaces please feel free to let me know.
cheers,
dave.
P.S. - Keep spreadin' the word. |

So why on earth have I created this site? Basically two reasons. 1. That I'm incredibly good-natured and an all-round good-bloke. and 2. I wanted an easier way to get in contact with session musos in and around melbourne. Since it didn't seem that anyone had done this online, I figured I'd create a directory of Melbourne session musicians that everyone could use, for free. That's right, I don't charge a cent and I don't have any advertising. I run this site out of my home-office server and a decent SDSL connection which I pay for out of my own pocket. As a result I ask one thing and one thing only: Please Please Please make sure your info is accurate. A directory without accurate info is absolutely useless, so please try to keep your info up to date.
That's about it really, so please enjoy and use this service as you wish...
