About Muso Black Book .com So what is this site about? Basically it provides an online directory (like the whitepages) of session musicians in and around Melbourne. It doesn't list bands, managers, recording stuios, or anyone else looking to make a buck out of the music industry, but rather provides a free service to all session musicians to get the info you need to book a musician as quickly and efficiently as possible. We don't discriminate against anyone - if you blow a horn, pluck a string, hit a timpani, sing or conduct, at any level, you're welcome to put your listing here. That said, this is not supposed to be an advertising service. All listings are reviewed by real people (normally me) and anything I think looks a little too much like a Danoz Direct commercial gets the turf. My aim is simply to get accurate information and make it available to musos in Melbourne, so that when you need to get a dep for that gig on Saturday that you really can't do, you don't have to spend hours trying to find phone numbers of people you don't know by ringing other people you don't know. Think of this site like the ultimate "little black phone book" with all the numbers you'll ever need. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not promising that by listing your number here your phone will suddenly be ringing hot. But ask yourself this - what harm can it do? Throw your number on this site, or if you're not comfortable doing that, just list an email address. But let Melbourne know that you're available and ready to work, and you never know - you might pick up a few extra jobs and it won't cost you a cent! So who am I to presume I can randomly take responsibilty for all this? Just a frustrated trumpet player/physicist/systems administrator who spent too long trying to organise session musos for my sister's wedding. Hence, this site was born. I'm open to feedback (preferably constructive, but if you want to vent, feel free to do that too, although I rarely respond to abusive email) about anything related to this site, and what you think I could add to help improve it. If you're curious about how it all works, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to show you. And I'm always up for a beer if you've got really serious questions! Most importantly, this can only work if people keep their information up to date, and get the word out about this directory, so please, tell your collegues, mates, whoever and whatever, about Muso Black Book.com and hopefully it will develop into a useful, valuable tool for the Melbourne music scene. Cheers! Dave Sheludko.
